Word Up

Dear People Who Read This Site, “George”, Girl, That Euro, Special C, Dr. Chris, Medicine Woman, The (Other) O.C., (Get Back) JoJo, Beloved Retailers, Almost as Beloved Press, and Especially Beloved Potential Investors,

So, the Brooklyn Flea outing this weekend was fantastic. A thousand thanks to everyone who came out and shopped, and particularly to those who stood with me and sold, and didn't try to kill me when the sunburn approached. It was a great afternoon, and it was fun to introduce new people to Embittermints, and to meet fellow commodities moguls (especially my neighbors from Wannahavacookie and Kumquat Cupcakery, both of whose owners were delightful and whose wares were delicious).

I'm continuing to push forward on new retail placements, and, of course, wondering whether Kim Kardashian will be worse than Shannon Elizabeth on Dancing With The Stars. Keep spreading the spite!

Summertime

Dear People Who Read This Site, “George”, Girl, That Euro, Special C, Dr. Chris, Medicine Woman, The (Other) O.C., (Get Back) JoJo, Beloved Retailers, Almost as Beloved Press, and Especially Beloved Potential Investors,

So I'm back from vacation and ready to hit the streets with Embittermints, but, before I do...a few words.

Had an excellent vacation, with everyplace as beautiful as the Faroe Islands pictured above. What's not in the picture is me with a wool hat, mittens, scarf and coat -- summer means something different in Faroese than it does here. I'm not planning on finding out what winter means. Sheesh. But, it was gorgeous, and preferable to unbearable heat - though I might not have said that while there.

As for summer entertainment news -- I haven't kept up. My Ti-Faux conked out in late June, and I've just thrown in the towel on So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew. It's too hard to get invested this late in the game, and, besides, I can't stand watching Nigel Lythgoe drool over the female contestants, and his feathered hair scares me.

That said, I've found a new source of inspiration -- Top Gear on BBC America. What a great show -- I wish I could host a show where I commented on something I knew something about (pop culture, travel, mid-priced clothing?), and got to do cool experiments and do fun stuff. Maybe I'll just put on a show here and hope for word of mouth to carry me the rest of the way. I know they're doing an American version, which could be a disaster -- Jay Leno clearly needs to host this -- he'd be a great Jeremy type -- knowledgeable, slightly smug, and able to take a joke (but not being put out to pasture, alas). I'm sure they won't take this valuable free advice, but there you go.

Ok, off to planning the big Embittermints Brooklyn Flea appearance on August 24. Be there or be square.
